Eldon Mini Farm has been establish by students from the University of Portsmouth in order to promote urban agriculture and educate the community in the origins of the food they eat. The farm is located in the Eldon Building courtyard.

Growing in urban areas reduces food miles, while also allowing us to trace the production of our food. It increases the biodiversity in the city, reduces buyer costs and utilities undervalued spaces.

The farm while still in its production stages is already bringing both students and faculty members together. We will continue this through its upkeep and events. We have now made some planters from recycled or reusable materials, primarily pallets and tonne bags, with an ongoing target to produce more planters and our own compost in the coming seasons.

We will be holding events enabling the public to enjoy both the farm and its produce. The produce created on the farm will be free to those who work on it and any excess will be given to the food cycle project to feed those in need.

If you are a student or staff member at the University of Portsmouth and wish to get involved with the farm please get in touch via our Facebook page or email Steph Wyant with the details below.
